Principal's Message
August 2022
Dear Pomelo Community Charter/Arts & Sciences Magnet Families and Staff Members,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I am delighted to serve as principal of Pomelo Community Charter and Arts and Sciences Magnet!
This new school year will begin with in person instruction on August 15, 2022. Together, we will accomplish academic success with instruction through collaboration, communication and commitment for all students.
Our most important goals are student achievement and dedication to rigorous instruction. We continue to make significant progress in language arts, math and science.
We are very excited to continue with our Arts and Sciences Magnet Center. Our mission is to inspire student with intellectual discovery and artistic expression. This unique instructional focus will serve as a pathway to middle school, high school and college career readiness. Parents can apply to our magnet program and Pomelo Charter lottery through LAUSD Choices. More information will be available soon.
This year we will continue our School for Advanced Studies (SAS) program! We have a thriving GATE program that has been designated as an Exemplary GATE Program for several years! Our highly trained teachers provide high ability and gifted learners with challenging differentiated instruction and specially designed activities. This acceleration and novelty will continue through in person learning opportunities.
In addition to our strong academics, teachers will engage in PETIP (Physical Education Itinerant Program).
This program is designed to equip teachers with knowledge, skills and strategies to teach high quality physical education and fitness to our students, aligned to meet state mandated PE instruction standards. PE will continue to be an integral part of our instructional program.
Our amazing school is fortunate to collaborate with Team Pomelo, our PTA. Together, we ensure students receive essential enrichment in the arts, computers, and PE through fundraising and membership.
